Pipeline Technician

Moda Midstream is looking for a Pipeline Technician for its Ingleside, Texas Energy Center.  

Position Description 

  • Perform measurement/maintenance relief duties on 24-hour call out basis and perform measurement operations as needed. 
  • Identify and locate company pipelines including probing, marking, mapping, and flagging company pipelines and assets. 
  • Perform duties associated with “One Call” pipeline response system. 
  • Coordinate with third party and company personnel for excavations, crossings, and digs of company pipelines. 
  • Launching/receiving pipeline scrapers/pigs and all duties associated to maintain line integrity and safe operation. 
  • Perform valve inspections and associated documentation to ensure proper operation. 
  • Identify and coordinate pipeline (Right of Way) R.O.W. maintenance and line marker replacement/additions as needed. 
  • Train and become proficient in other work disciplines and perform relief duties as needed. 
  • Read and understand line/station gate valve maps, flow diagrams, and alignment drawings. 
  • Start and stop pipeline transfers/stations as directed.
  • Other duties and projects assigned as necessary, such as isolating equipment, lock out/tag out and equipment maintenance. 
  • Schedule, conduct, report and perform meter calibration and sampling tests and taking liquid and test equipment samples
  • Order, receive and stock parts associated with metering equipment
  • Perform petroleum measurement calculations and cut tickets for custody transfer.
  • Ability to respond to call out requests and work irregular hours as needed for maintenance or emergency situations
  • Witness calibrations and analysis of liquid products


  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and have a good driving record. 
  • Must live within 30 miles of report location. 
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in pipeline operations. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills. 
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Internet). 
  • Proficient with laptop computer operations and mapping programs. 
  • Ability to obtain Operator Qualification per D.O.T. FCR 195  
  • Knowledgeable in Line Locating duties such as “One Call” response and duties related to pipeline excavations and line crossings.
  • Self-motivated and able to work well with little supervision 
  • Ability to work effectively with other team members/departments
  • Intermediate computer skills, able to use Microsoft Office Suite and Maximo
  • Good communication and math skills
  • Physical requirements - Requires fine motor skills, and visual acuity correctable to 20/40 distant and 20/20 near.  Ability to lift up to 100lbs., work outside in all weather conditions, and extended hours.  Must be able to work in confined spaces, enter and exit sloped ditches. Must be able to climb, while carrying required equipment, ladders and tanks, and work at heights of up to 60 feet.
